“Pick up your face! You disgust me!” Spirit shouts.
Oriana body turns to the animating face lying on the bathroom. Her asks, “What the hell?”
“You know! You know better! The twins know better than to deal with a vamp. Dealing with Apollo. What the hell? He’s our enemy. How can you be so blind,” Spirit shouts.
Oriana picks up her face and smoothes it out as if she is applying cream to her face. She looks at herself in the mirror and sees a hollow person filled with betrayal and evil. All she wants is to feel love. To have a connection with a person who will understand her. How she longs for a person who she can spend the rest of her life with, instead of watching them die of old age or sickness.
In the life of a Shadow Creature, it’s hard to find that one person who is willing to become a demon the rest of their immortal life. When you are a born Shadow Creature, you have no choice in the matter. You must accept who you are, even though society will never understand. You are isolated into the darkness with your own kind. Walking the streets and living day by day without a hint age, sickness or death. You wander the earth for centuries and centuries looking for love, connection or trying to find death to take you.
The taste of human flesh is so intoxicating. The smell, the taste mixed with blood touching your lips can drive you insane. It’s like an orgasm in your mouth. Each bite of human flesh, raw or cook can send your body into ecstasy and you feel like floating on air. One lick of barbecue skin is like a kiss from God. Intoxicating; delicious – this can drive you insane with delight.
Finding a partner outside the family is so hard. You want to be sociable but the aroma of the Normals drive you mad. You want to touch, eat and lick them dead. You can’t trust yourself to be around them.
Sometimes you want to shout and admit you are a monster, a creature of the night, but you sit in silence like a mouse. You don’t want the Normals to see the monster within.
Being Shadow Creature has its pains and awards. You are isolated from the world, but you have seen the world change, first hand.
When Oriana met Apollo, she felt complete. She felt alive. The sex with Apollo was absolutely amazing because she didn’t have to hold back. She released her body and soul to a creature who could understand her and feel her energy. The sex was surrender of all the pain, depression and hurt she has suffered over the years. For the first time, she felt alive and kiss and saw its glory.
Oriana looks at Spirit and says, “You should understand my plight. I just wanted to feel free. We have lived for hundreds of years and look at us.”
Oriana grabs Spirit and throws her against the mirror.
Oriana continues, “Look at yourself; you look like a 20 year old girl who should be Paris Hilton’s best friend. We don’t age. We don’t know how to die. We don’t know how it feels to get sick. How do you explain this to your boyfriends? How do you control yourself around the Normals? Have you ever thought about making a meal of boyfriends with carrots and gravy on the side? Have you ever thought about getting married and living with your soul mate for the rest of your immortal life?”
Oriana turns to Spirit, “Aunt Erika makes our family into slaves, like your black mother and your so-called domestic workers. Spirit you are slaves and we never had a choice. We, the children of our demons parents, never gave us a choice but we have to live their rules and also fit within with society. We are born robots with free-will.”
Oriana sits on the toilet and looks at Spirit, “Just once, I will love to taste death.”
Oriana grabs a wine glass and breaks it. Using a sharp jagged piece, she cuts her throat. The blood comes flowing out like a river and then the wound is heals.
“See. I want to taste death. I want to see a grim reaper. I want to experience sickness. I want the flu or even chicken pox. I want to feel alive. Apollo gave me a chance to live and to be free. Yes, I know. He’s a vamp and he fathered Megan’s child, but he is a demon like us,” Onelina continues.
“By they way, I do believe, Galvin is a fallen angel who God DOES NOT want. So, give me one reason why the vampires are so evil. Why our family can’t stand the sickly vampires? They drink blood like us. From year to year, I live, I eat, I breath and long for a mate to understand the my shit. We are the only ones of our kind and Aunt Erika keeps tabs on us like a hawk watching its prey. I want to live. I want to be free. I am tired of this life. I am tired of being Tristan child. The twins are more evil than I. They love this life for now, but when a century passes and a century begins, I want to see some age to me. I want to feel.”
Oriana cries and Spirit walks up to her.
“I have to report you. You made your choice, now you need to suffer the consequences of your actions.”
